About the Web Site:
MyUSCoins.com was started in the fall of 2008 because I needed a place to record my coin collection, and I didn't feel like dropping even 30 bucks on one that I would have to delete off my laptop eventually anyway.
My solution was to create my own database to store my coin collection, and to do it on the web so I could retrieve it from anywhere.
Since it's on the web, I figured I would open it to anyone that wanted to sign up, and keep it free. I didn't want to pay for an app, so why would someone else.
After the DB was started, and the catalog was laid out, I really started to enjoy using it and understanding more about coins I had and didn't have. In other words, my coin collecting fueled my web site and my web site fueled my coin collecting.
About Me:
I am an IT professional that is also a coin collector. I work full time as an IT Manager for a fortune 500 company, and have for the past 12 years. I have a loving wife of 4 years, a 3 year old son, and a 6 month old son. So combining my family life with my work life means that this web site often gets worked on in the wee hours of the night when everyone else is fast asleep.
I thoroughly enjoy building websites and learning new technologies, so I combined my enthusiasm for coin collecting with my enthusiasm for building web sites to create MyUSCoins.
If I'm not building web sites, staring at coins, working or spending time with my family, I also enjoy playing poker, golfing, woodworking and driving my car way too fast(legally).
